The Xlg Chalkboard Rolls set is designed for the 6 1/4 x 10 1/4" hoop. These rolls sew up very quickly using fabric scraps and a small piece of chalkboard fabric (chalkboard fabric is available for purchase at www.hancockfabrics.com or www.denverfabrics.com).
Chalkboard Rolls are made entirely in one hooping and only require one small seam to be whipped shut by hand upon completion. (Roll can be topstitched by sewing machine in lieu of hand stitching if desired.)

The Xlg Chalkboard set includes three different chalkboard roll designs: plain, tic tac toe, and clock!
Each includes a small elastic chalk holder and ribbon tie closure.
Complete pictorial instructions can be found at the bottom of this page.
Tuck a chalkboard roll into your purse or diaper bag to keep the little ones busy when you are delayed or in a restaurant.
The clock chalkboard roll is perfect for helping little ones learn to tell time! Draw the clock hands on and have your little one write the time, or write the time and your little one can add on the hands!
Xlg Chlkaboard Rolls make a great gift and can be made in fabrics suitable for boys or girls!

1. Hoop one layer of tearaway stabilizer.
2. Stitch the first color ( fabric placement outline).
3. Place a piece of 7.5 x 11.5" fabric on top of the hooped stabilizer covering the outline completely.
4. Stitch the second color to secure the fabric in place.
5. Stitch the third color (chalkboard fabric placement outline).

6. Place a 6.5x10.5" piece of chalkboard fabric on top of the hooped stabilizer/fabric, covering the chalkboard fabric placement outline completely.
7. Stitch the fourth color to secure in place. Carefully trim the chalkboard fabric as close to the outline as possible (I use small curved scissors for the closest cut).

8. Stitch the fifth color (chalkboard fabric satin stitching and gameboard details).
9. Stitch the first color for the ribbon placement.
10. Fold a 24" piece of ribbon in half and place centered along the ribbon placement stitching line with the folded edge extending 1/2" beyond the fabric outline.
12. Stitch the next ribbon color to secure in place. Fold ribbon so it does not extend over the stitching outline and tape in place in the middle to finish design.

13. Stitch the chalk loop placement stitching line.
14. Cut a 2" piece of small elastic cord (or you can use a hair elastic for a colored loop). Fold in half to make a loop, and place on the chalk loop placement stitching line with loop extending INTO fabric design 1/2".
15. Stitch next color to secure chalk loop in place.

16. Place a 7.5x11.5" piece of fabric FACE DOWN on top of the hooped stabilizer/fabric. Stitch final color to secure in place.
17. Remove from hoop and trim around the fabric outline stitching, clipping corners.
18. Turn inside out and whip small turning seam shut.
Insert piece of chalk in chalk loop. Roll up loosely and tie with a bow.
You're finished!
