The Valentine Panda Pocket softie was designed for the 5x7 hoop.  The Panda Pocket Softie is made completely in one hooping with just one small seam to be sewn closed by hand after stuffing.  The Valentine Panda Pocket softie has heart shaped eye spots and a heart pocket on front to tuck a small treasure inside.

Vday Panda Pocket Softie

1.  Hoop 1 layer of cutaway stablizer.

Center a 6x8" piece of fleece on top of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (panda outline stitching).

Stitch second color (eye spots).

Stitch third color (inner eyes and smile).

2.  Stitch fourth color (heart pocket placement outline).

Cover heart outline completely with a piece of fabric.

Stitch fifth color to secure and to stitch pocket placement line.

Fold a 4 1/2 x 6" piece of fabric and press so it is 4 1/2 x 3".

Placed folded fabric on top of heart outline so folded edge is even with pocket placement horizontal line and bottom of heart is completely covered.

IMPORTANT:  Tape folded edge down securely so presser foot does not become entangled in pocket in future steps. 

Stitch sixth color to secure.

Trim heart fabric and pocket fabric as closely to stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.

HINT:  When cutting these fabrics it is easiest to trim one layer at a time to get the closest cut!

Stitch seventh color (heart satin stitching).

3.  Place a second piece of 6x8" fleece on top of design.

Stitch final color to secure.

Remove from hoop.

Trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4-1/2" seam allowance, and clipping corners and curves well.

Turn right side out.

Stuff with polyfil and sew small seam closed by hand.
