Twirly Pencil Toppers are designed for the 4x4 hoop.

These fun toppers have ribbon and bead arms that "twirl" when you spin the pencil between your hands!

each Twirly Pencil Topper is made in one hooping and only requires a few minutes stitching time!

They are made from inexpensive felt with minimal color changes for a quick and easy project!

Twirly Pencil toppers (includes pes, jef & hus formats):

Twirly Pencil Toppers Instructions:
1. Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (pencil topper outline).

Stitch second color (first ribbon arm placement line).

Place a 6" piece of ribbon over ribbon arm placement outline so approximately 1/2" is inside pencil topper design and the rest extends to the left side of design.

Secure with a piece of tape.

Stitch third color to secure.

Stitch fourth color (second ribbon arm placement line).

Place a 6" piece of ribbon over ribbon arm placement outline so approximately 1/2" is inside pencil topper design and the rest extends to the right side of design.

Secure with a piece of tape.

Stitch fifth color to secure.

Place a piece of felt over pencil topper design, covering completely.

Stitch sixth color to secure.

Stitch remaining colors (facial features) stopping before last color.

Float a second piece of felt UNDER hooped design, covering design area completely on back.

Stitch final color to secure.

Remove from hoop and carefully trim top and bottom felt layers and stabilizer around perimeter of pencil topper.

NOTE:  Be careful NOT to cut your ribbon arms!

Thread a pony bead onto each ribbon arm and knot approximately 1 1/2" from pencil topper.

Trim ribbon arm approximately 1" below bead.

Place pencil topper on top of pencil and spin between palms and watch the arms spin!
