Star Baby Softie and Carrier Set

The Star Baby Softie and Carrier Set is designed for the 5x7 hoop.

The little Star Baby Softie is made from fleece.

It is made entirely in one hooping with just one small straight seam to be sewn shut by hand upon completion.

The Star Carrier is made from color cotton prints.

it is made entirely in one hooping with a ribbon handle added in the hoop and no hand sewing required.

Star Softie and Carrier Set for the 5x7 hoop (includes pes, jef & hus formats):

Star Softie Instructions:

1.  Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (softie fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fleece on top of softie outline covering completely.

Stitch second color to secure.

2. Stitch third color (star).

3. Stitch fourth color (face).

4.  Stitch fifth color (cheeks).

5.  Stitch sixth color (eyes, mouth).

6.  Place a second piece of fleece face down on top of hooped design, covering completely.

Stitch seventh color to secure.

7.  Remove from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving 1/4 - 1/2" seam allowance.

Clip curves and corners well.

Turn right side out.

Stuff as desired and sew small seam opening shut.

Star Carrier:

1.  Hoop one layer of ultra solvey water soluble stabilizer (this gives the nicest finished edge).

Stitch first color (ribbon handle placement outlines).

Place one end of a 30" piece of ribbon centered on top of left hand outline, so approximately 1/2" extends below line.

Tape in place for several inches so presser foot does not become entangled in ribbon in future steps.

Stitch second color to secure.

2.  Place opposite end of ribbon over right hand outline so approximately 1/2" extends below line.

Tape in place for several inches so presser foot does not become entangled in ribbon in future steps.

Stitch third color to secure.

3.  Stitch fourth color (star fabric placement outline ).

Place a piece of fabric on top of star outline so it is covered completely.

4. Stitch fifth color to secure and to stitch pocket placement horizontal line.

5. Fold and press a 6x8" piece of fabric in half so it is 6x4".  Place folded fabric on top of star outline so folded edge is even with horizontal pocket placement outline.

IMPORTANT:  Tape entire folded edge down so presser foot does not become entangled in future steps.

Stitch sixth color to secure.

6. Float a piece of fabric under hoop right side facing DOWN, covering entire star outline.

Stitch seventh color to secure.

7. Trim all fabrics on top AND bottom of hoop as close to the stitching as possible being careful not to cut stabilizer or stitching.

Stitch eighth color (star satin stitching).

8.  Place a drop of Fray check or white glue (that dries clear) on each star tip to help guard against fraying if desired.

After dry, remove from hoop.

Carefully trim stabilizer around perimeter of design.
