Snow Baby Softies, Appliques, & Igloo Wrist Tote

The Snow Baby Softies and Snow Baby Appliques are designed in three hoop sizes: 6x10, 5x7, and 4x4.

The Snow Baby Softies are made from fleece and bright cotton prints.

 

Each Snow Baby Softie is made in one hooping with just one small seam sewn shut by hand upon completion.

The Igloo Tote is made from colorful cottons and is designed for the 5x7 hoop.

It will hold one 5x7 Snow Baby Softie as shown, or 2-3 4x4 Snow Baby Softies.

It has a ribbon handle for easy carrying.

The Igloo Tote is made completely in one hooping!

Snow Baby Softies, Appliques, & Igloo Wrist Tote Set (includes pes, jef & hus formats):

Snow Baby Softies Instructions:
1.  Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Place a piece of fleece one inch wider and one inch taller than hoop on top.

Stitch first color to secure.

2.  Stitch second color (snow body fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of snow body outline, covering completely.

Stitch third color to secure.

3.  Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible, being careful not to cut stitching or fleece underneath.

Stitch fourth color (snow body satin stitching).

4.  Stitch fifth color (snow face fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of snow face outline, covering completely.

Stitch sixth color to secure.

5.  Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible, being careful not to cut stitching or fleece underneath.

Stitch seventh color (snow face satin stitching).

6.  Stitch eighth color (charcoal buttons details).

7.  Stitch ninth color (cheeks).

8.  Stitch tenth color (eyes mouth).

9.  Stitch eleventh color (nose).

10.  Stitch twelfth color (scarf).

Stitch 13th color (scarf trim).

11.  Place a second piece of fleece, same size as first, on top of design.

Stitch 14th color to secure.

12.  Remove from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4 - 1/2" seam allowance.

Turn right side out.

Stuff as desired and sew seam opening shut by hand.

You're finished!

Snow Baby Applique Instructions:
1.  Hoop item to be appliqued as desired.

2.  Stitch first color (snow body fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of snow body outline, covering completely.

Stitch second color to secure.

3.  Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible, being careful not to cut stitching or fleece underneath.

Stitch third color (snow body satin stitching).

4.  Stitch fourth color (snow face fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of snow face outline, covering completely.

Stitch fifth color to secure.

5.  Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible, being careful not to cut stitching or fleece underneath.

Stitch sixth color (snow face satin stitching).

6.  Stitch seventh color (charcoal buttons details).

7.  Stitch eighth color (cheeks).

8.  Stitch ninth color (eyes mouth).

9.  Stitch tenth color (nose).

10.  Stitch eleventh color (scarf).

Stitch 12th color (scarf trim).

You're finished!

Igloo Wrist Tote Instructions:

1.  Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (igloo fabric placement outline and pocket placement horizontal side lines).

Place a piece of fabric on top of igloo outline, covering completely.

Stitch second color to secure.

3.  Stitch third color (horizontal igloo lines).

4.  Stitch fourth color (vertical igloo lines).

5.  Stitch fifth color (ribbon placement outline).

Fold a 12" piece of 5/8 - 7/8" wide ribbon in half so it is a 6" loop.

Place on top of ribbon outline, so approximately 1" of cut ends extends past top of design and remainder of loop is inside design. 

IMPORTANT:  Fold loop so it fits inside design and secure entire loop with tape so presser foot does not become entangled in future steps.

6.  Stitch 6th color to secure.

7.  Fold a 8x8" piece of fabric in half and press so it is 4x8".

Place fabric on top of design to form pocket so folded edge is horizontal across design and even with pocket placement horizontal side lines.

IMPORTANT:  Tape entire folded edge securely to design so presser foot does not become entangled in future steps.

Stitch 7th color to secure.

8.  Place a 6x8" piece of fabric on top of design FACE DOWN.

Stitch final color.

Remove from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4-1/2" seam allowance.

Turn right side out and flip pocket to back.
