In The Hoop Pocket Tote Instructions:

If you wish to personalize your tote, you can either stitch the name at the top folded edge of one of the long pieces of fabric below before beginning or you can insert the name in between the 2nd and 3rd colors of the design if you have the appropriate software that enables you to do so.

You will need 6 pieces of fabric, each folded in half and pressed well of the following dimensions:

2 pieces 8x22" folded to 8x11"

2 pieces 8x18" folded to 8x9"

2 pieces 8x13" folded to 8x6.5"

1. Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (fabric placement outline).

Place one piece of fabric folded to 8x11" on top of fabric placement outline so folded edge is even with top of outline stitching.

IMPORTANT:  Place a piece of tape along the entire folded edge of fabric so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps!

Stitch second color to secure and to stitch horizontal top pocket fabric placement outline.

3.  Place one of the fabric pieces folded to 8x9" on top of design so the folded edge is even with the top of the horizontal top pocket fabric placement outline.

IMPORTANT:  Place a piece of tape along the entire folded edge of fabric so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps!

Stitch third color to secure and to stitch short horizontal lower pocket fabric placement outlines.

4.  Place a small fabric piece folded to 8x6.5" on top of design so the folded edge is even with the short horizontal lower pocket fabric placement outlines on each side.

Place the second small fabric piece folded to 8x6.5 directly on top of the first one with folded edges even and with the design you want to show on the second piece, FACE DOWN.

IMPORTANT:  Place a piece of tape along the entire folded edges of both pieces of fabric so they do not become entangled in presser foot in future steps!

Stitch fourth color to secure.

5.  Place the second fabric piece folded to 8x9" on top of design so the folded edge is even with the folded edge of the first top pocket.

IMPORTANT:  Place a piece of tape along the entire folded edge of fabric so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps!

Stitch fifth color to secure.

6.  Cut a 10" piece of 7/8"wide ribbon for handle.

Insert approximately 1" of ribbon handle between all layers of fabric and stabilizer at top of design on both sides.  Secure with tape if desired to hold in place.

Stitch sixth color to secure.

7.  Place the second piece of fabric folded to 8x11" on top of design so folded edge is even with top folded edge of design.

IMPORTANT:  Place a piece of tape along the entire folded edge of fabric so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps!

Stitch seventh color to secure.

8.  Remove from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4-1/2" seam allowance.

Clip curves well.

Turn right side out, turning two pockets to front of design and two to the back of design in the process.

You're finished!
