Plane Button Cover
This button cover is made entirely in one hooping with a stitched guideline to make them easy to use with Fabric Covered Button Kits. I used the Dritz Covered Button Kits. This button cover will fit 1 1/2" buttons.
Plane Button Cover
1. Hoop one layer of tearaway stabilizer.
Stitch first color (fabric placement outline).
Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.
Stitch second color to secure.
2. Stitch third color (propellor).
Stitch fourth color (window).
Stitch fifth color (plane).
Remove from hoop. Trim around perimeter of circle stitching right next to stitching. Remove excess tearaway stabilizer inside design.
Assemble button according to button kit instructions.
Plane Book Buddy Instructions
1. Hoop one or two layers of heavy duty WSS stabilizer (I prefer Badgemaster for the best results!).
Stitch the first color (book buddy fabric placement outline and ribbon placement outline). Do NOT place fabric on outline yet.
Place a 12" piece of 5/8 - 7/8" ribbon centered over ribbon placement outline with approximately 1/2" of ribbon extending over top of ribbon outline in design area.
2. Stitch second color to secure ribbon.
IMPORTANT: Tape ribbon down so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps.
3. Place a piece of fabric on top of book buddy fabric placement outline covering completely. Stitch third color to secure.
4. Stitch the fourth color (propellor).
Stitch fifth color(window).
Stitch sixth color (plane).
5. Place a second piece of fabric UNDER hoop stabilizer, RIGHT SIDE facing DOWN. Stitch 7th color (book buddy outline) to secure.
6. Remove hoop from machine, but do NOT remove fabric stabilizer from hoop!
Carefully trim fabric top AND bottom closely around perimeter of design being careful not to cut stabilizer or ribbon. Replace hoop in machine.
8. Stitch 8th color (book buddy satin stitching).
9. Remove from hoop and carefully trim wss away from design. Remove tape from ribbon.
You're finished!
5x7 Plane Chalk Mat
1. Hoop one layer of stabilizer.
Place a 7x9" piece of fabric on top of stabilizer, centered.
Stitch first color to secure.
2. Stitch second color (clouds).
Stitch third color (propellor).
Stitch fourth color (window).
Stitch fifth color (plane).
3. Stitch sixth color (chalk fabric placement outline).
Cover outline completely with a piece of chalk fabric.
Stitch seventh color to secure.
Trim chalk fabric as closely to outline stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.
Stitch eighth color (chalk fabric satin stitching).
4. Fold 2 7x9" inch pieces of fabric so they are 7 x 4.5" inches and press.
Overlap folded edges approximately 1".
Place on top of design, centered so folded edges are horizontally placed across the middle and entire design is covered.
TAPE securely down so presser foot does not become entangled in future steps.
Stitch final color to secure.
Remove from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4 - 1/2" seam allowance.
Clip corners.
Turn right side out and press, using a pressing cloth over chalkboard fabric and iron low to medium low heat.
Completely cover chalkboard fabric with chalk to condition and then erase (wipe off with a wet rag).
Tuck chalk inside back pocket.
You're finished!
HELPFUL HINT: If you will press the chalk mat with a hot iron BEFORE turning right side out, the chalk fabric will be slightly more flexible and easier to turn. AFTER turning, you can again press the mat WITH A PRESSING CLOTH to remove any white marks. :)
NOTE: Do not iron chalk fabric directly without a pressing mat. It is vinyl and will melt! :)
Plane Applique Instructions:
1. Hoop item to be appliqued as desired.
2. Stitch first color (propellor).
Stitch second color (Window fabric placement outline).
Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.
Stitch third color to secure.
Trim fabric as closely to outline as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.
Stitch fourth color (window satin stitching).
Stitch fifth color (plane fabric placement outline).
Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.
Stitch sixth color to secure.
Trim fabric as closely to outline as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.
Stitch seventh color (plane satin stitching).
You're finished!
Plane Mini Treat Sac Instructions:
Cut 2 4x8" pieces of fabric and fold in half and press so they are 4x4".
1. Hoop one layer of cutaway or tearaway stabilizer.
Stitch first color (treat sac fabric placement outline).
Place one piece of fabric on top of outline so folded edge is even with top horizontal stitching line and entire design is completely covered.
Stitch second color to secure.
2. Stitch third color (propellor).
Stitch fourth color (window).
Stitch fifth color (plane).
3. Place second piece of folded fabric on top of design so folded edge is even with folded edge of previously placed fabric piece and entire design is completely covered.

Remove from hoop.
Trim aroundperimeter of design and trim away stabilizer from sac opening.
Turn right side out.
You're finished!
