Mini Owl Tote
The Mini Owl Tote was designed for the 4x4 hoop. This cute little tote is sized perfectly for just a few pieces of candy. It makes a cute party favor. It can even be hung on a doorknob by the ribbon handle.
If desired, a vinyl window can be substituted for the chalk fabric!

If desired, chalk fabric can be used or a vinyl window! If using chalk fabric (or other applique fabric) you do not need to cut away the fabric underneath the window.
1. Hoop one layer of tearaway or cutaway stabilizer.
Stitch first color (tote fabric placement outline).
Cut two 5x10" pieces of fabric and fold in half and press so they are 5x5". Place one piece of folded fabric on top of tote outline so folded edge is even with straight horizontal stitching line at top of outline.
Stitch second color to secure.
2. Stitch third color (owl window outline).
Carefully cut away both layers of folded fabric from inside owl outline being careful NOT to cut stabilizer underneath.
Place a piece of medium vinyl on top of owl outline, covering completely.
Stitch fourth color to secure.
Trim vinyl as closely to owl outline as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.
Stitch fifth color (owl satin stitching).
3. Cut a 9" piece of ribbon.
Slip 1" of one end of ribbon between folded fabric and stabilizer on left hand side of tote.
Stitch sixth color to secure.
Slip 1" of second end of ribbon between folded fabric and stabilizer on right hand side of tote.
Stitch seventh color to secure.
4. Place second piece of folded fabric on top of design so folded edge is even with previously placed folded edge.
Stitch final color to secure.
5. Remove from hoop. Trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance. Trim stabilizer from inside owl window. Turn right side out.
