The Kutie Duck Book Buddy is the second design in the Kutie Book buddies series.  Thank you to everyone who preordered this series!

 

 

The InTheHoop Duck Kutie BookBuddy (Sarah came up with the name!) is incredibly quick and easy to make!   It fits in the 4x4 hoop, or more than one can be made at a time in the larger sized hoops!

It is made from fun colorful cottons, and is great to add when giving a book as a gift.

 Kutie Duck  Book Buddy Instructions:

1. Hoop one or two layers of heavy weight water soluble stabilizer (I used one layer of Badgemaster for the pictured samples).

Stitch the first color (duck outline and ribbon placement outlien).

2.  Place a 12" piece of 5/8" ribbon centered over ribbon placement outline with approximately 1/2" of ribbon extending over top of ribbon outline in design area.

 3.  Stitch second color to secure ribbon.

IMPORTANT:  Tape ribbon down so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps.

4.   Place a piece of fabric on top of duck fabric placement outline covering completely.  Stitch third color to secure.

Stitch fourth color (duck satin stitching detailing).

Stitch fifth color (beak).

Stitch sixth color (eyes, smile).

5.  Float a piece of fabric UNDER hoop design, covering completely.  Fabric should be FACE DOWN.

Stitch seventh color to secure.

6.  Remove hoop from machine, but do NOT remove fabric/stabilizer from hoop!

Carefully trim fabric both on top and underneath hoop closely around perimeter of elephant design being careful not to cut stabilizer or ribbon.  Replace hoop in machine.

Stitch 8th color (duck satin stitching).

7.  Remove from hoop and carefully trim wss away from design.  Remove tape from ribbon.

You're finished!
