
The Kangaroo Pocket Puppets are the first in a new series of pocket puppets!
These fun hand puppets are sized for the 6x10" and 5x7 hoop and also include a small Joey (baby kangaroo) finger puppet for the 4x4" hoop! Using colorful fleece or felt, they are easy and inexpensive to make!
The little finger puppet will fit in both the 6x10 and 5x7 Kangaroo Puppets' pouches!
The hand puppets and finger puppet are made entirely in one hooping.

Kangaroo Hand Puppet Instructions:
(Measurements for 5x7 puppets are in parentheses.)
1. Hoop one layer of tearaway stabilizer.
2. Stitch the first color (fabric placement outline).
3. Place a 7x10" (6x9) piece of polar fleece on top of fabric placement line, with bottom edge even with bottom left and right edges of puppet sides. Stitch second color to secure in place.
4. Stitch third color (facial features).
5. Stitch fourth color (pocket placement outline. Add a piece of 5x3" fleece over the pocket placement outline so the top edge is even with top left and right edges of pocket placement outline stitching. Stitch fifth color to secure in place.
6. Trim pocket fabric as closely to stitching line as possible without cutting stitching or bottom layer of fleece. Stitch sixth color (pocket satin stitching).
7. Add a second piece of 7x10" (6x9) piece of polar fleece on top of hooped stabilizer/fabric so bottom edge is even with bottom edge of first piece of polar fleece.
6. Stitch final color to secure in place.
7. Unhoop and trim, clipping all corner and curves.
8. Turn inside out.

Kangaroo Finger Puppet
1. Hoop one layer of cutaway or tearaway stabilizer.
2. Stitch first color (fabric placement outline).
3. Place a 4x5" piece of polar fleece on top of fabric placement line, with bottom edge even with bottom left and right edges of puppet sides. Stitch second color to secure in place.
4. Stitch third color (facial features).
5. Add a second piece of 4x5" piece of polar fleece on top of hooped stabilizer/fabric so bottom edge is even with bottom edge of first piece of polar fleece.
6. Stitch final color to secure in place.
7. Unhoop and trim, clipping all corner and curves.
8. Turn inside out.
FINGER PUPPET VARIATION:
If you prefer, instead of adding the second piece of polar fleece to the TOP of the design in step 5, it can be added UNDERNEATH the hooped design instead. Instead of turning finished puppet then, simply trim around the perimeter of the design. This may be helpful for those who find very small designs hard to turn.
