Jumbo Pocket Stockings were designed for the 6x10 hoop.  These stockings are a generous 5 1/2 x9" upon completion!  Each stocking is made entirely in one hooping with no hand stitching required!

The Pocket Stockings have one or two pockets.  The single pocket stocking requires only 7 minutes stitching time.  The double pocket stocking requires only 11 minutes stitching time. 

The pockets can be filled with gift cards, cash, or a variety of small gifts!

(For single pocket stocking, skip step #2)

1.  Hoop a layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (stocking fabic placement outline).

Cut two 7x 22" pieces of fabric and fold in half and press so they are 7x11".

Place one piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline so folded edge is even with top horizontal stitching line.

Stitch second color to secure.

2.  Cut a 5" piece of 3/8 - 5/8" ribbon.  Fold in half to form a loop.

Place loop at top of left hand side of stocking 1/8" from top of stocking so approximately 1/2" of cut ends extend outside stocking outline and loop extends inside outline.  Loop should be at a 45 degree slant from side stocking stitching line.

Stitch third color to secure.

2.  Stitch fourth color (pocket placement outline).

Cut two 3 1/2 x 7" pieces of fabric and fold in half and press so they are 3 1/2 x 3 1/2".

Place one folded piece of fabric on top of pocket placement outline so folded edge is even with top of side stitching lines and entire pocket area is covered.

Stitch fifth color to secure.

Trim pocket fabric as closely to pocket outline as possible being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

Stitch sixth color (pocket satin stitching and second pocket outline).

3. Place second 3 1/2x 3 1/2"  folded piece of fabric on top of pocket placement outline so folded edge is even with top of side stitching lines and entire pocket area is covered.

Stitch seventh color to secure.

Trim pocket fabric as closely to pocket outline as possible being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

Stitch eighth color (pocket satin stitching).

4.  Place second piece of 7x11" piece of folded fabric on top of stocking outline so folded edge is even with previously placed 7x11 folded edge. 

Stitch ninth color to secure.

Remove from hoop.  Trim around perimeter of stocking clipping curves well and leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance.

Turn right side out.
