The Fruity Book Buddies would make a great addition to a book gift!  The set includes a Lemon Book Buddy and a Strawbery Book Buddy.

Each book buddy is made entirely in one 4x4 hooping!

Lemon Book Buddy Marker Instructions

1. Hoop one or two layers of WSS stabilizer (I use a washaway/tearaway for the best results!).

Stitch the first color (lemon fabric placement outline and ribbon placement outline).  Do NOT place fabric on outline yet.

2.   Place a 12" piece of 1/8 - 1/4" ribbon centered over ribbon placement outline with approximately 1/2" of ribbon extending over top of ribbon outline in design area.

3.  Stitch second color to secure ribbon.

IMPORTANT:  Tape ribbon down so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps.

4.  Place a piece of fabric on top of lemon fabric placement outline covering completely.  Stitch third color to secure.

5.  Stitch the fourth color (face).

6.  Place a second piece of fabric UNDER hoop stabilizer, RIGHT SIDE facing DOWN.  Stitch fifth color (lemon outline) to secure. 

7.  Remove hoop from machine, but do NOT remove fabric/stabilizer from hoop!

Carefully trim fabric top AND bottom closely around perimeter of lemon design being careful not to cut stabilizer or ribbon.  Replace hoop in machine.

9. Stitch sixth color (lemon satin stitching).

10.  Remove from hoop and carefully trim wss away from design.  Remove tape from ribbon.

You're finished!

 

Strawberry Book Buddy Marker Instructions

1. Hoop one or two layers of WSS stabilizer (I use a washaway/tearaway for the best results!).

Stitch the first color (strawberry fabric placement outline and ribbon placement outline).  Do NOT place fabric on outline yet.

2.   Place a 12" piece of 1/8 - 1/4" ribbon centered over ribbon placement outline with approximately 1/2" of ribbon extending over top of ribbon outline in design area.

3.  Stitch second color to secure ribbon.

IMPORTANT:  Tape ribbon down so it does not become entangled in presser foot in future steps.

4.  Place a piece of fabric on top of strawberry fabric placement outline covering completely.  Stitch third color to secure. Trim as closely to outline stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching.

5.  Stitch the fourth color (leaves fabric placement outline).

Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.

Stitch fifth color to secure.  Trim as closely to outline stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching.

Stitch sixth color (face).

6.  Place a piece of fabric UNDER hoop stabilizer, RIGHT SIDE facing DOWN.  Stitch seventh color (strawberry outline) to secure. 

7.  Remove hoop from machine, but do NOT remove fabric/stabilizer from hoop!

Carefully trim fabric closely around perimeter of strawberry design being careful not to cut stabilizer or ribbon.  Replace hoop in machine.

9. Stitch eighth color (strawberry satin stitching).

Stitch ninth color (leaves satin stitching).

10.  Remove from hoop and carefully trim wss away from design.  Remove tape from ribbon.

You're finished!
