New Drawstring Bags were designed for the 5x7 hoop!  Each bag requires only two hoopings!  The back of the Flower Owl Drawstring Bag takes 4 minutes and the front takes 24 minutes stitching time! 


The Flower Owl Drawstring Bag has top button holes and an owl applique on the front.  

The Flower Owl Drawstring Bag makes a great gift bag or party favor!

No hand sewing is required!

 5x7 Flower Owl Drawstring Bag Instructions

Cut 2 6x16" pieces of fabric and fold in half and press so they are 6x8".

Stitch Back First:

1.  Hoop 1 layer of cutaway stabilizer.

Stitch first color (bag fabric placment outline).

Place one piece of folded fabric on top of outline so folded edge is even with straight top edge and entire design area is covered.

Stitch second color to secure.

Stitch third color (buttonholes).

Remove from hoop and trim stabilizer away from top and opening of bag.  Do not trim fabric yet.

Stitch Front:

1.  Hoop 1 layer of cutaway stabilizer.

Stitch first color (bag fabric placment outline).

Place one piece of folded fabric on top of outline so folded edge is even with straight top edge and entire design area is covered.

Stitch second color to secure.

Stitch third color (buttonholes).

2. Stitch fourth color (owl body fabric placement outline).

Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.

Stitch fifth color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.

Stitch sixth color (owl body satin stitching).

Stitch seventh color (wing fabric placement outline).

Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.

Stitch eighth color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.

Stitch ninth color (wing satin stitching and second wing fabric placement outline).

Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.

Stitch tenth color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.

Stitch 11th color (wing satin stitching).

 3.  Stitch 12th color (flowers).

Stitch 13th color (outer eye circles).

Stitch 14th color (inner eye pupils).

Stitch 15th color (beak).

Place back on top of design so folded edge is even with front folded edge and sides are even.

Stitch final color to secure.

Remove from hoop.  Trim around perimeter of design and trim stabilizer from bag opening.  Turn right side out.

Cut a 28" piece of ribbon and thread through button holes. 

Pull taut and tie in a bow.
