The Fashion Doll Tie Tops set was designed for the 5x7 hoop.  Each Tie Top is made completely in one hooping with just one small seam to be sewn closed by hand or topstitching after completion.  This set includes a plain TieTop, watermelon TieTop, ice cream cone TieTop, Flower TieTop, and ric rac TieTop.  Each Tie Top requires only 4 minutes or LESS stitching time!  You'll be surprised at just how quick and easy these are to make!

Fashion Doll Tie Tops Set (includes pes, jef & hus formats):

 Tie Tops Instructions:

1.  Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (tie top fabric placement outline).

Cover outline completely with a piece of fabric.

Stitch second color to secure.

2.  Cut four 8" pieces of 1/4" ribbon.

Place one piece of ribbon over top left shoulder seam, so 1/2" extends outside design area and remainer of ribbon is within design area.  Tape to secure.  Stitch third color to stitch down.

Repeat with second piece of ribbon over top right shoulder seam.  Stitch fourth color to stitch down.

Place third piece of ribbon over left side seam approximately 1/8" below underarm curve so 1/2" extends outside design area and remainder of ribbon is within design area.  Tape to secure.  Stitch fifth color to stitchh down.

Repeat with fourth piece of ribbon over right side seam.  stitch sixth color to secure.

Tape all four pieces of ribbon down INSIDE design outline.  Cover with a second piece of fabric, FACE DOWN.  Stitch seventh color to secure.

Remove from hoop.  Trim around perimeter of design being careful not to cut ribbons, leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance (1/2" along opening).  Clip corners and curves well.  Turn right side out.  A bamboo knitting needle or the handle of a small paintbrush is helpful for pushing out the straps.  Do not pull on ribbons to turn top.

Sew small opening closed by hand.

You're finished!

The above instructions are for the plain Tie Top.

For decorated Tie Tops, simply insert the following steps between steps 1 and 2.

Watermelon:

Stitch red (watermelon top).

Stitch white (watermelon rind).

Stitch green (bottom watermelon rind).

Flower:

Stitch flower base color.

Stitch flower center color.

RicRac:

Stitch ricrac color.

IceCream Cone:

Stitch cone color.

Stitch icecream color.

Stitch cherry color.
