The Fashion Doll Short Dress set is the first set in the Fashion Dolls Series!  Thank you to everyone who preordered this series!

The Fashion Doll Short Dress set was designed to fit 11 1/2" fashion dolls.  This set fits the 5x7 hoop and includes a short dress and matching tote bag.

The Dress has hook and loop closures at the mid back and length and ribbon ties at the neck.  It is made entirely in one hooping with no other hand sewing required.

The matching tote bag is made entirely in one hooping with no hand sewing required.

Fashion Doll Short Dress Set (includes pes, jef & hus formats): 

Short Dress Instructions:

1. Hoop 1-2 layers of heavy weight water soluble stabilier (I used Badgemaster for best results).

Stitch first color (dress fabric placement outline).

Cut two 7 1/2" pieces of 1/8" wide ribbon.

Place one piece of ribbon over top left shoulder line, centered, with approximately 1/2" of ribbon inside design and the remainder of ribbon extending outside dress design.

Stitch second color to secure.

Repeat with second piece of ribbon on right side.

Stitch third color to secure.

2.  Cover entire design with a piece of fabric.

Stitch fourth color to secure.

Float a second piece of fabric underneath hooped design, RIGHT SIDE FACING DOWN.

Stitch fifth color to secure.

3.  Stitch sixth color (left dress top velcro placement outline).

Cover velcro placement outline with a piece of 3/4" wide velcro (use hook piece of velcro with smooth side touching fabric).

Stitch seventh color to secure and to stitch right dress top velcro placement outline.

Remove hoop from machine, but do NOT remove design from hoop.

On the UNDERSIDE of hooped design, cover placement outline with a piece of 3/4" wide velcro (use fuzzy piece of velcro with smooth side touching fabric). Tape velcro in place.  Stitch eighth color to secure.

4.  Stitch ninth color (left dress bottom velcro placement outline).

Cover velcro placement outline with a piece of 3/4" wide velcro (use hook piece of velcro with smooth side touching fabric).

Stitch tenth color to secure and to stitch right dress bottom velcro placement outline.

Remove hoop from machine, but do NOT remove design from hoop.

On the UNDERSIDE of hooped design, cover placement outline with a piece of 3/4" wide velcro (use fuzzy piece of velcro with smooth side touching fabric). Tape velcro in place.  Stitch 11th color to secure.

Trim all four pieces of velcro as close to stitching as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.

5.  Trim both top and bottom layers of fabric as closely to dress outline as possible being careful not to cut stitching, stabilizer, or ribbons.

Stitch final color (dress satin stitching).

6.  Remove from hoop and remove excess stabilizer. 

You're finished!

 Fashion Doll Tote Bag

1. Hoop one layer of stabilizer.

Stitch first color (tote bag fabric placement outline).

Cut 2 4x4" pieces of fabric and fold in half and press so they are 2x4".

Place one piece of fabric on top of bag outline so folded edge is even with top straight horizontal stitching line.

Stitch second color to secure.

2.  Cut a 5 1/2" piece of narrow ribbon.

Slide one end of ribbon between fabric and stabilizer on left hand side with cut edge of ribbon extending inside about 3/4".  Repeat with second end of ribbon on right hand side of design.  Tape in place to secure and to prevent presser foot from becoming entangled in ribbon in future steps.

Stitch third color to secure.

3.  Place second folded piece of fabric on top of design with folded edge even with previous folded edge.

Stitch final color to secure.

4. Remove from hoop.  Cut around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4" seam allowance.  Remove excess stabilizer form opening of bag.  Turn right side out.
