5x7 Dog Bone Stocking

The 5x7 Dog Bone stocking is made entirely in one hooping with just one small straight seam to be sewn closed by hand upon completion!

It has only 5 color stops and only requires 2 minutes stitching time!

Fill with rawhides and doggie treats for that special pooch this Christmas!

Cut one 7x14" piece of fabric and fold in half and press so it is 7x7".

5x7 Dog Bone Snowflake Stocking:

1. Hoop one or two layers of cutaway stabilizer or tearaway stabilizer. I use one layer of a washable tearaway for best results. Center one 7x9" piece of fabric on top of hoop. Stitch first color to secure and to stitch pocket fabric placement outline.

Stitch second color (ribbon loop placement line).

Cut a 4-5" piece of narrow ribbon and fold in half to form a loop.

Place loop centered over placement line with loop pointed inside design area and cut edges extending approximately 1/2" outside design area.

Stitch third color to secure.

2. Place the piece of folded fabric on top of the stocking outline with folded edge even with top straight pocket placement stitching line and remainder of design completely covered.

Stitch fourth color to secure.

3. Place a second 7x9" piece of fabric FACE DOWN on top of stitched design covering design completely.

Stitch final color to secure.

4. Remove from hoop. Trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4" - 1/2" seam allowance. Clip curves well. Trim stabilizer from opening of stocking and turn right side out.

Sew small seam opening closed by hand.
