Butterfly Deluxe Puppet Set

Deluxe Puppet Sets incorporate applique along with embroidery into the designs for a more special puppet!

The applique adds extra detail to the puppets without greatly increasing stitching time.

These puppets are made from inexpensive fleece and cotton scraps.

Each puppet is made completely in one hooping!

The Butterfly Deluxe Puppet Set includes puppets in three hoop sizes!

The two hand puppet sizes are made in the horizontal hoop.  This allows for a larger hand opening at the bottom.  When the hand is inserted into the puppet with the thumb on one side and all four fingers at the other, your little one will be able to flap the butterfly's wings! 

The finger puppet will fit a child or adult's finger.

Butterfly Deluxe Puppet Set (includes pes, jef & hus formats):

Butterfly 6x10 Puppet instructions (5x7 measurements in parestheses):

1.  Hoop one layer of cutaway or tearaway stabilizer.  Place a 7x11" (6x8") piece of fleece on top.

Stitch first color (butterfly wings).

2.  Stitch second color (butterfly body fabric placement outline).

3. Place a piece of fabric on top of body fabric placement outline and stitch third color to secure. 

Carefully trim fabric closely to body stitching without cutting fleece or stitching.

4.  Stitch fourth color (body satin stitching).

5.  Stitch fifth color (nose).

6.  Stitch sixth color (eyes and mouth).

7.  Stitch seventh color (polka dot fabric placement outline).

8. Place a piece of fabric on top of polka dot fabric placement outline and stitch eighth color to secure. 

Carefully trim fabric closely to dot stitching without cutting fleece or stitching.

9.  Stitch ninth color (polka dot satin stitching and second polka dot fabric placement outline).

10.  Repeat steps 7-9 until you reach the final stitching color and all dots have been applique/stitched. 

11.  Add a second piece of 7x11" (6x8")  fleece on top of hooped stabilizer/fleece.

12.  Stitch final color to secure.

13.  Remove puppet from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4-3/8" seam allowance and clipping curves and corners.

14.  Turn inside out.  You're finished!

 

BUTTERFLY FINGER PUPPET INSTRUCTIONS:

1.  Hoop one layer of cutaway or tearaway stabilizer.  Place a 5x5" piece of fleece on top.

Stitch first color (butterfly wings).

2.  Stitch second color (butterfly body fabric placement outline).

3. Place a piece of fabric on top of body fabric placement outline and stitch third color to secure. 

Carefully trim fabric closely to body stitching without cutting fleece or stitching.

4.  Stitch fourth color (body satin stitching).

5.  Stitch fifth color (nose).

6.  Stitch sixth color (eyes and mouth).

7.  Stitch seventh color (first color polka dots).

8. Stitch eighth color (second color polka dots).

9.  Stitch ninth color (third color polka dots).

 10.  Add a second piece of 5x5" fleece UNDERNEATH  hooped stabilizer/fleece.

11.  Stitch final color to secure.

12.  Remove puppet from hoop and trim closely around perimeter of design.

 You're finished!
