Year Round Softies and More!

Join the Softies as we work our way around the calendar!  Each week for four weeks, the Softies will visit a different occasion!

There will be softies, appliques and other fun things in store!

This week's set of Year Round Softies are the Christmas YearRound Softies!

The Christmas YearRound Softies set is sized for the 5x7 hoop.

Our poodle, frog and duck are ready for the festivities!

Included in this set are "2007"  Santa softie designs: Santa Duck Softie 2007, Santa Frog Softie 2007, and Santa Poodle Softie 2007.

There is also a blank Santa Duck Softie, Santa Frog Softie, and Santa Poodle Softie.

Also included are fun Santa Animal Sacs to make from inexpensive felt!  These in the hoop projects are quick and easy and make perfect party bags for a holiday class party, or a great giftwrap alternative for small gifts!  Included are the 2007 Santa Poodle Sac, 2007 Santa Duck Sac, 2007 Santa Frog Sac, Blank Santa Poodle sac, Blank Santa Duck Sac, and Blank Santa Frog Sac. 
A small loop of ribbon can also be added to the top corner of the Santa Animal Sacs for hanging!

Softies Instructions:

1. Hoop one layer of tearaway stabilizer.  Center a 5x8 piece of fleece on top of stabilizer.

2.  Stitch all colors EXCEPT the final color. 

3.  Lay a 5x8" piece of fleece on top of the stabilizer/fabric right side facing DOWN.

4.  Stitch the final color to secure in place.

5.  Carefully cut around outline of Softie, leaving an approximately 1/8 - 1/4" seam allowance.  Clip corners and curves as needed.

6.  Turn inside out.  Stuff with fiberfil as desired.

7.  Stitch opening shut.

You're finished!

Animal Sac Instructions:

1.  Hoop one layer of medium to heavy weight cutaway stabilizer.

2.  Stitch the first color (felt placement outline).

3.  Place a 5x7 piece of felt over the placement outline, with the top edge of the felt just barely overlapping the top line of the outline.

4.  Stitch all remaining colors EXCEPT the last color.

5.  Place a second piece of 5x7 felt right side down on top of the first piece, lining up the top edges.

6. Stitch the final color to secure top piece.

7.  Remove from hoop and trim around the perimeter of the sac.

Leave interfacing in sac to give it extra body.  (You may wish to trim it from the opening so it doesn't show, though).

8.  Turn inside out and stuff with treats! :)
