Christmas Countdown Wallhanging!

The Christmas Coundown Wallhanging is the first set in the Christmas In July Series!

The Christmas Countdown Wallhanging is a fun way to count down the days until Christmas!

It is made from cotton fabrics and chalk fabric.

It is designed for the 5x7 hoop.

It is made entirely in one hooping with just one small straight seam sewn shut by hand upon completion.

Christmas Countdown Wallhanging Instructions:

1. Hoop one layer of cutaway stabilizer.

Stitch first color (wallhanging fabric placement outline).

Place a 6x8" piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch second color to secure.

2.  Stitch third color (santa jacket fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch fourth color to secure.

3.  Trim fabric as closely to jacket outline stitching as possible, being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

Stitch fifth color (jacket satin stitching).

4.  Stitch sixth color (hat fabric placement outline).

  Place a piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch seventh color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to hat outline stitching as possible, being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

5.  Stitch eighth color (hat satin stitching).

6.  Stitch ninth color (chalkboard frame fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch tenth color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to frame outline stitching as possible, being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

7.  Stitch 11th color (frame satin stitching).

8.  Stitch 12th color (beard fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch 13th color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to hat outline stitching as possible, being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

9.  Stitch 14th color (beard satin stitching and hat trim fabric placement outline).

10.  Place a piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch 15th color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to hat outline stitching as possible, being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

11.  Stitch 16th color (hat trim satin stitching).

12. Stitch 17th color (hat pompom).

13.  Stitch 18th color (face and nose).

14.  Stitch 19th color (mittens and eyes).

15.  Stitch 20th color (moustache).

16.  Stitch 21st color (chalkboard fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of chalkboard fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch 22nd color to secure.

Trim fabric as closely to chalkboard outline stitching as possible, being careful not to cut fabric underneath or stitching.

17.  Stitch 23rd color (chalkboard satin stitching).

18.  Stitch 24th color (chalkboard wording).

19.  Stitch 25th color (ribbon hanger placement line).

Place one end of a 10" piece of 7/8" ribbon on top of left ribbon placement line so approximately 1/2" extends above design.

Stitch 26th color to secure.

Place opposite end of ribbon on top of right ribbon placement line so approximately 1/2" extends above design.

IMPORTANT:  Securely tape ribbon down flat INSIDE of design so presser foot does not become entangled in ribbon in future steps.

Stitch 27th color to secure right hand side of ribbon.

20.  Stitch 28th color (chalk holder ribbon outline).

21.  Place one end of a 12" piece of 1/8 - 1/4" ribbon over chalk holder ribbon outline so 1/2" extends over edge of design.

Stitch 29th color to secure.

22.  Tape chalk holder ribbon down INSIDE design.

Place a second 6x8" piece of fabric FACE DOWN on top of design.

Stitch 30th color to secure.

23.  Remove from hoop.

Trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4-1/2" seam allowance.

Turn right side out, remove tape, and press on BACK of design.

NOTE:  Do not press directly on chalkboard fabric.

Sew small seam opening shut.

Tie chalk holder ribbon around a piece of chalk.

You're finished!
