Softie Baby Bunting Pictorial

1.  Hoop one layer of Ultrasolvy (or other wss).  Stitch the first color for the window placement.

2.  Cut a 6x8 piece of fabric and place over the Ultrasolvy to find the window position.  Cut a small X in the fabric where it will be in the center of the window.  This will make removing the fabric from the window simpler when the time comes.

Pin the fabric to the ultrasolve around the edges making certain the cut "X" is centered inside the stitched rectangle.

3.  Sew to the second color stop. Trim the fabric from INSIDE the window as close to the stitching as you can get.

4.  Sew to the third color stop.  This will finish the edge of the window as well as provide the outline of the bunting.

5.  Stitch the fourth color stop.  This will provide the placement lines for the ribbon strap.

Cut a 26" strap of ribbon (for a 6 yo - you may wish to adjust the ribbon length depending on the age of your child).  Place one end of each ribbon over the ribbon placement lines so the ribbon edges extend approximately 1/2" outside the outline of the bunting.

6.  Stitch the fifth color stop to secure the strap in place.

7.  Carefully pin the strap inside the center of the bunting outline so it does not become caught in the final color stitching.

8. Place a second piece of fabric (5x7") face down on top of the hoop.  Secure along the edges with pins being careful that no pins will come in contact with the presser foot while stitching.  Stitch the final color stop.

9.  Remove fabric from hoop and trim along the outline leaving a 1/4" seam allowance.  Carefully trim wss from the window.  Remove pin from inside holding strap in place.  Turn bunting right side out.

10.  Fold ribbon strap up and tack in place, adding small bow or button adornments if desired.

11. Insert a Softie, and you're finished!
