Baseball Mini Chalk Mat Instructrions:
HELPFUL HINT: If you are having difficulty turning your chalk mat right side out, try quickly pressing the WRONG side of the chalk fabric with a warm iron. This will warm it up and make it more flexible and easier to turn. Pressing it after turning will also help remove any marks on the chalk fabric surface. DO NOT press directly on chalk fabric as it is made of vinyl and can melt. :)
1. Hoop one layer of cutaway or tearaway stabilizer.
2. Stitch first color (fabric placement outline).
Place a 5x5" piece of fabric completely covering outline.
Stitch second color to secure.
3. Stitch third color (chalkboard fabric placement outline).
Place a 4x4" piece of fabric completely covering outline.
Stitch fourth color to secure.
Trim chalkboard fabric as closely to stitching as possible.
Stitch fifth color (chalkboard fabric satin stitching).
Stitch sixth color (baseball stitching).
4. Fold 2 five by eight inch pieces of fabric so they are 5x4" inches and press.
Overlap folded edges approximately 1".
Place on top of design, centered so folded edges are horizontally placed across the middle and entire design is covered.
Stitch final color to secure.
Remove from hoop and trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4 - 1/2" seam allowance.
Clip corners.
Turn right side out and press, using a pressing cloth over chalkboard fabric and iron low to medium low heat.
Completely cover chalkboard fabric with chalk to condition and then erase (wipe off with a wet rag).
Tuck chalk inside back pocket.
You're finished!
