Ballerina Softies for the 5x7 hoop!

The sweet little softies have begun Ballet Lessons!

And every little girl must be dressed for the occasion!

Our Ballerina Baby, Ballerina Frog and Ballerina Kitty are dressed in their finest leotards and ballet slippers and even have matching tutus!

Ballerina Softies are made completely in the hoop except for one small seam which is sewn shut by hand after stuffing.

The matching tutus are not made with the embroidery machine, but complete instructions are given for this quick and easy project!

They sew up extremely quick and easy, and Sarah has already discovered that they twirl quite well!

Ballerina Softies Instructions:

To make, simply hoop one layer of cutaway stabilizer.  Pin a piece of fabric or fleece the size of your hoop around the perimeter of the stabilizer (you can also just float this piece if you desire) right side facing up.  Stitch all of the steps until the LAST color.  Before stitching the last color, add a second piece of fleece or fabric the size of your hoop on top of the design, right side down (right sides will be touching).  Stitch the final color of the design.  Remove from hoop and trim around the perimeter being careful to leave a small seam allowance at the opening.  Turn the design.  Stuff as desired with fiberfill and stitch the opening shut by hand.  Add bows, bells, tutus or other embellishments as desired.  (NOTE:  Do not add any embellisments if your Softie Dolls are meant for small children!)

Ballerina Softies TuTu Instructions:

Cut one 7.5" length of 1/4" elastic.  Overlap cut ends approximately 1/2" and stitch together.

Cut 8" pieces of tulle (I used a 6" spool and just cut of 8" lengths from it).  Double knot each length of tulle around the elastic loop.  Add as many or as few pieces to make it as full as you like.  Trim to desired length when finished.
