NOAH'S ARK POCKET HANGER PICTORIAL

Our new pocket hangers are a cute in the hoop project that will come in handy for helping to organize all those tiny little treausures!

Our sample hanger has three pockets, but you can make as many for your hanger as you wish! 

Pocket Hangers are handy for storing small sewing notions!  Include a gift card for the fabric store for a special gift for a sewing friend!

Fill the pockets with lip gloss and nail polish for that special teen!

The Noah's Ark Pocket Hanger is the perfect place to store all of your little one's Noah's Ark Finger Puppets!

NEEDED:  felt square, 1/2" buttons, a 7 1/2" length of ribbon, 

PLEASE NOTE:  Measurements given are for the 5x7 Noah's Ark Pocket hanger.  

1.  Hoop a layer of tearaway stablizer. 

2.  Cut a sheet of felt in half (the length of the felt so you have two long pieces).  Place one half on the hooped stabilizer and pin in place around the edges and place hoop on machine.  Do a trial layout to insure that the needle will not hit the pins.  (If you wish you can do a basting stitch instead of pinning or float this piece instead.)

3.  Sew the first three colors of the design.  These can all be done in the same color if desired.  They are separated by different colors in the design so the thread is cut in between so the design sews nicer. 

4.  Lay the second sheet of the felt on the design, placing the straight edge about 1/2" below the bottom of the window.  Pin or float as in step 2.

5. Stitch the remaining steps of the design.

6.  Unhoop the design, carefully remove the stabilizer, and trim around the perimeter of the ark.

 

7.  The pocket is now complete!  If the pocket is to be the top pocket of your hanger, then sew a 7 1/2" piece of ribbon on the top two corners with buttons if desired.  If the pocket is a lower pocket then open the buttonholes with a seam ripper or tiny scissors. 

8.  Make the desired number of pockets and button together and your hanger is complete!
