The Advent Door Pocket is the third design in the In The Hoop Holidays! series!  Thank you to everyone who preordered this series.

The Advent Door Pocket is made entirely in one 5x7 hooping with no hand sewing required!  Hang it on a bedpost or a doorknob by the ribbon loop.  Count down the days til Christmas with the small chalkboard on the front of the Advent Door Pocket and place small daily treats in the back pocket!

Advent Door pocket for the 5x7 hoop (includes pes, jef & hus formats):

 Advent Door Pocket Instructions:

1. Hoop one layer of tearaway stabilizer.

Stitch first color (fabric placement outline).

Place a piece of fabric on top of fabric placement outline, covering completely.

Stitch second color to secure.

2. Stitch third color (chalk fabric placement outline).

Cover chalk fabric outline completely with a piece of chalk fabric.

Stitch fourth color to secure.

Trim chalk fabric as closely to outline as possible being careful not to cut stitching or fabric underneath.

Stitch fifth color (chalk fabric satin stitching).

3.  Stitch sixth color (Days 'Til Christmas wording).

4.  Stitch seventh color (noses).

5. Stitch eighth color (antlers).

Stitch ninth color (reindeer bodies).

6. Stitch tenth color (eyes).

 7.  Stitch 11th color(ribbon loop placement outline).

Cut a 9" piece of ribbon.

Center one end of ribbon over left ribbon placement outline so 1/2" of cut end extends outside design area and remainder of ribbon is within design area.

Stitch 12th color to secure.

8.  Center second end of ribbon over right ribbon placement outline so 1/2" of cut end extends outside design area and loop is within design area.

TAPE RIBBON SECURELY DOWN so presser foot does not become entangled in future steps.

Stitch 13th color to secure.

9.  Cut a 9x7" piece of fabric and fold in half and press so it is 9x3.5".  Place folded fabric on top of design so bottom half of design is completely covered and folded edge is in center of design horizontally.

Stitch 14th color to secure.

10.  Place a second piece of fabric on top of design FACE DOWN, covering completely.

Place a piece of fleece on top of fabric, covering completely.

Stitch final color to secure.

11.Remove from hoop.  Trim around perimeter of design leaving approximately 1/4-1/2" seam allowance.  Turn right side out.  Flip pocket to back of design.  Press well.

BE CAREFUL NOT TO TOUCH THE IRON TO THE CHALKBOARD FABRIC as it is vinyl and can melt.  It can be pressed from the back of design or using a pressing cloth.

You're finished!
